rear axle endplay query

Hi there

I've had some good advice from this forum in the past, here's hoping you can put me straight on this. I have 69 Le Mans that I'm building pro-touring style, part of which is a rear end disc brake upgrade to the 8.2 rear. I've got a rear disc set up from a 79 Caddy Seville for the conversion.

Now the question is this, the stock drum backplate was approx 0.100 inch thick, the rear disc caliper bracket which swaps in is 0.200 inch thick. Is this difference of 100 thou going to cause any problems (eg endplay) and if so how do I fix it?

Thanks for your help

Tom

It shouldn't change the endplay as this is determined at the other end of the axle by the C-clips and the center pin.

Sorry, I should have been more specific, the rear end is an 8.2 BOP without C clips, does your reply still hold true?

Thanks
Tom
