Rear brake light/turn signal problem new wiring.

I am trying to wire a hotrod, I have all the forward lights & markers working, turn, parking, etc. having trouble with the rear light circuit. Got parking lights, turn signals left & right, got brake lights, but when I actuate the brake light switch the turn signals stop flashing.

any ideas? What can I do to fix this?

Thanks
Bobwire

This Will Work If You Have A Gm Column.from The Column Harness Splicea 16gauge Wire To Thewhite Wire, run This To A Terminal On Brake Lite Switch. From Other Terminal On Brake Lite Switch, run A Wire (to Recieve Power)to Hazard Flasher.from Other Term.on Haz Flasher Run Awire Up To Brown Wire On Column Harness. From Fuse Box Run A Wire (14ga)to Haz .flasher And Connect It To The Wire Going To Brake Lite Switch.(this Wire Powers Both Brake Lite Switch And Haz Flasher).from Another Fuse Run A 14 Ga Wire To Turn Signal Flasher.other Side Of Turn Signal Flasher Needs Wire To Purple Wire On Column Harness. Column Harness ---n Goes To Riteturn Stop Lite...m Tolft Turn Stop J To Rite Front H To Left Turn Front

The brake lights and rear turn signals are separated thru the turn signal switch. It sounds like you have the brake light switch wired straight to the rear lights and not thru the turn signal switch. Therefore, the constant power from the brake light switch is over-riding the turn signal intermitent power.

Blueroberts described in detail the GM column wiring, Does your steering column have a built-in turn signal switch, if so, what column are you using? Or are you using an aftermarket add-on turn signal switch, such as a SignalStat?
