First off you need to find out for sure if your rear bumper is original. There are a zillion aftermarket rear step bumpers out there and your truck could have one. If that's the case, the original bumper brackets aren't going to fit. And, likewise if you just buy some "rear bumper brackets" for your Ranger you could find that they are for an aftermarket bumper and they don't fit the original one your truck may have.

If you need brackets, don't you need a bumper? Most rear step bumpers come with the brackets.

Ok lets try this.

What I did for my little rear bumper brackets was use the used parts search site and found the nearest salvage place which hade one and got the bumper and brackets. Basically, used OEM. On my restoreation I used only 1 part that was after market and that will be done no more... . But here is the link to the used parts search http://www.car-part.com/ it will get you some salvage yards in your area.

I'm with you on the aftermarket parts, usually they are junk. However, with these bumpers they are ok. The brackets are usually "universal" with a crap load of holes so they can be bolted to many different trucks.
