Rear Disc Brake Pad Replacement
 

Hi,
I have an '01 Lincoln LS and I am about to change the rear disc brake pads. My question is, do I need to do anything with resetting the emergency brake? or will the piston callapse all the way like the fronts? I had an '84 Eldorado years ago that required resetting the emergency brake for the piston to collapse all the way.

If it has a caliper similar to my 97 T-bird---
The piston itself screws back into the caliper bore.
Autozone sells a tool to do this----about 10.00
I just screwed the piston in just enough for the new pads to slip in.
No adjusting-----worked for me

Use only Wagner Thermoquiet Brake Pads, turn the discs, or at least scuff consistently..... or you will probably be sorry.

After about 5000 miles you'll have lots of hard pedal and the sucker won't stop aggressively from 70 mph.

Been there, done that. Own 2 TownCars and a Mark 8.
