Rear end for a 1950 Chevy Truck

I was just wondering what rear end would be the best option for a 1950 chevy truck. I am thinking maybe a camaro rear end but I am new to the hotrod realm. Any information and pictures would be greatly appreciated.

The first gen Camaro rear ends are popular for this swap. If it's not a high powered truck then the 8.2 10 bolt will be fine. A Camaro 12 bolt is high priced and hard to find. The '72 and later Nova 8.5 rear end is a good choice, but getting hard to find.

I second the GM 8.5 10 bolt. If its just a cruiser then you'll be find and they are plentiful in any junkyard.

Be aware that the 1/2 ton trucks and the 3/4 ton trucks have differ in the rear
frame and spring mounts- if you use a commercial lit for a 1/2 ton it will not
fit on a 3/4 ton without mods. Jim

Mid 70's Camaro/Firebird are the perfect width for AD trucks and pretty easy to find.

I used a 1978 Camaro rear differential for my 1948 Chev truck

There is 1 inch overall difference in the width of a 1st gen and 2nd gen Camaro rear end. The 1st gen is 60 inches and the 2nd gen is 61 inches overall.
