Rear End for 54 chev??

I can get a rear end out of a 84 TransAm with Posi and Disk brakes. However it is not close by and is going to take alot of effort to get to. As in still buried under a car in somebodys barn. Does any body know if it will fit under my truck. I'm going to use a TCI 4 link rear end and panhard bar. I've run through most of the links and sizes and cant find one for this application. Thanks for any help!!!

The 89 Trans Am had a 62" rear and the 84 is the same body style so the rear should be the same or nearly the same width. For your truck a 62" rear will work fine.

It actually depends on which housing it has. None are more difficult than the other but if it has the small housing you could be somewhat limited on gear selections. Mine came out of a 78 Firebird and had the small housing. The highest gear ratio I can fit in there is 3:08. It was pretty much a smog rear anyway and my truck is set up for highway cruising so it fit with the general scheme of things anyway.

I doubt the 84 will have the small housing but check just to make sure anyway. Good luck.
