Rear end gear ratio in 1977 chevy pick up.

Hello, I want to know what gear ratio i have in the rear end of my 1977 pick up. The left side of axle tube has Gm 64 Stampd on it. The right side rear end housing has 3896839 stamped on it. The top right side of axle tube has KDA W0232 stamped on it. I hope this will help to identify the rear end.

The only accurate way is to remove the cover and count teeth. Those numbers really don't tell the average guy anything.

If you have an RPO sticker inside the glove box, you might find the code there. A list of what the codes mean is HERE.

HERE is an article on checking rear gear ratios.
