Rear end ID
I have a 1941 Ford Sedan Coupe Street Rod with an 8" rear end. I want to install bolt-on disc brakes with e-brake. The rims are rallye steel wheels, and the rear has 245-R60-14 tires. I need to identify what I have so I can add disc brakes. I have the axle code and differential casting numbers. I cannot find the build date on the pumpkin, but I do not feel it is necessary. I tentatively think it is a 1970 Nova open .273 gear rear assy 8.2, 10 bolt. I think it has the "C" clip (whatever that is!). The differential cover is chrome and has a crease. The cover is not a smooth half-moon. The axle code is: CBP 1617W1, and the differential casting number is GM69 on one side, and 3969340 NF on the other side on the lower front flanges. Also the rear suspension has a CE parallel rear spring kit. I am new to all this, because all of my other cars have been stock. I decided to go on the "wild side" after I retired! So far I am enjoying the car, and challenge to upgrade it. Any help and advise will be appreciated. I found this place as a listing on Google when I did various engine and rear end searches.
