rear end swap into 61 chevy
Does anyone know of a newer rearend that will bolt into my 61 chevy wagon..dont need discs, but wouldnt be against them...ive got a 700r4 trans to bolt in and id like something a little newer/stronger than what was offered in 1961. any tips or help appreciated..

'64-'72 A-body rear ends come as close as anything to a bolt in and they require some minor mods. That would include Chevelle 8.2" 10 bolts, 12 bolts, BOP (Cutlass, Skylark and Lemans/GTO) 8.25" 10 bolts and '72 Cutlass S 8.5" 10 bolts. I have a scan of a very old xerox from a 1984 Super Chevy on what is required if you'd like to see it. One of the guys at Chevy talk found it for me. It's not a very big file so e-mail me if you want to see it and I'll send it to you.
