Post rear-end or transmission ?????????

I have a 1964 c-10 truck with 402 motor and a 700r4 trans. The truck originally came standard shift and has the six lug geared down rearend. Does antone know my gear ratio? But my problem started when I changed from the th350 to 700r4 to improve gas mileage and high speed crusin. But now it doesn't shift right. It shifts fine at part throttle, but when I get on it hard it hesitates when it shifts. During that hesitation my engine over revs!! The trans does have a B&M SHIFT KIT, my th350 didn,t operate like this. A friend says it's my rear end it's to low. He says when my trans wants to shift the governor is turning fast enough that's why it hesitates. ANY COMMENTS PLEASE HELP. ( TV CABLE IS OK)

yes 700r4's are sensitive to road speed, get a governor weight kit and follow the instructions.

Your gears won't have any effect on the governor, gears only make it shift at a different speed (MPH). The driveline RPM dictates governor action for the most part. Try this, loosen your TV cable just a little and try it to see if it helps. If the shift kit instructions came with a different method of cable adjustment, follow it.

I tried to adjust the tv cable in and out but no results same problem. When the shift kit was installed the instructions used part of the street/ strip kit and part of rv/ towing kit. but if the instruction said to do it then it should work. Others say that I should change the servo piston, but to my understanding that would affect 2nd to 3rd shift. But I'm having this problem on all shift but overdrive is working fine that's the only thing I'm satisfied with.

Cool

you say the engine over revs on a hard throttle shift.

Does this mean the engine revs higher than you want or that the engine RPM flairs up during the tranny shift?

Does it do this flair on the 1-2 shift, 2-3 shift or both?

Sorry for my not being too clear on what you mean.

It revs to high not to worry about it! And it does this on all shifts when I floor it. But after the shift it returns to normal rpm. But at part throttle it does ok! What does it sound like This may sound stupid but could a weak trans pump cause this? I am running a trans cooler and when ever I touch it's warm not hot. Some say that I shouldn't use the trans-cooler and the radiator to cool it, but that shouldn't cause my problem.

I also seem to have this problem in my th200 on the 2-3 shift, it doesnt shift until the motor is near 5500 and the car starts to shake, then it finaly klunks into 3rd, but I've heard this problem is common in the 200 series, something about drilling holes in something and not enough pressure, but thats all I know. Sorry about the double reply, hotrodders.com seems to not be working well tonight.
