Question rear end swap 55 chevy

what rear fits a 55 chevy, i have a 12 bolt from my race car i think it is to long . The original rear is a still in the car does a posie carrier fit in the case.

I wouldn't think the carrier would fit because your stock rearend should be a 10 bolt. Just measure the rear end for width to your old rearend and then just move our mounting shackles to fit the springs on the car.
THis is just my 2 cents someone with more info might give you better answers

Any early 10 bolt setup will swap into it. That is 1955 - 1964 for all GM passenger cars and 1955 - 1962 for Corvettes. I'm not sure if this includes the physical mounting brackets on the axle housing, but I know that this includes any of the differentials if you want to swap them. I put a 4.88 posi unit in mine a while back. I keep a 3.36 laying in the cabinet and I'm told that my two door has a 3.55 posi setup...though I'm not certain yet.

Ford 9" is also a popular swap for the tri 5's.

rear ends

I 'am going to try the to put the 12 bolt in i measured it there is a inch diffrence between the two rears i will give it a shot
