Post Rear Gear Oil

I have a 4.88 posi- track differential, and would like to change the oil ( I don't no how old it is ) but don't really know what to use. I have been told you need special gear oil, not just 80-90 weight. Any suggestions greatly appreciated, thanks. [quote]

dollybud,

just wanted to say hi. Been down to Shannonville a few times to see the bike races. Saw Michel Mercier and Steve Crevier among others. Always fun.

Anyway, can't answer your question specifically but on my truck it is recommended to use 80W90 oil for the rearend. Hope this helps.

A shop just installed my 3:73 gears and Eaton Posi yesterday 7/3/02 in my Chevy 10 Bolt. They used 2 Bottles of gear Lube and a 7 ounce tube of Special Posi additive. I purchased all these items at Advanced auto parts for about $25

Hope this helps
