rear main seal
ok so, i know my chevy small block is a 1969, but i thought that prior to 86, small blocks came with a 2 peice rear main seal, but it appears as if i have a 1 piece. i mean i unbolted it from the block, and it is only one piece, am i looking at it the wrong way? how do i tell for sure? thanks

If your block is a 1969, then half of the seal should be in the case and the other half in the real main cap.

ok, i think i got it, is this a 1 peice? cause if it is, then i do have a 2 peice, because mine is kinda like the main caps, you know, half a circle. http://ebay0.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/_...584991/i-1.JPG

Yup. The picture is a one piece seal, used in the later engines. You obviously have a 2 piece seal.
