rear suspension in a model a

What would give the better ride buggy spring with shocks or coil overs ? Also would panhard bar be required with both types ?

If you are using coil overs, then you will need some type of locator. Four links and ladder bars normally require a panhard to keep the axle centered under the car, a leaf spring type suspension normally does not need this centering device. A Watts linkage can also be used, but its usually too much hardware to fit under a small coupe, another alternative is a a wishbone type locator or a diagonal link bar......

Well...dont know that i can add anymore to what BigMo just posted. Thats pretty much everything in a nutshell. Depends on how radical a build you're doing. The "buggy" spring worked fine on our 32...but it also was all stock! Great little 30 hp flat 4. RAW POWER!

This is a TCI Model A chassis with coil overs (plus the frasmework for a '32 gas tank. It rides and handles a heluva lot better then the buggy spring rear end:

Then under the finished and many mile driven car:

If I was to build it today, would have opted for the triangulated suspension rather then the 4 bar - but that's what comes when you learn more
