Rear Window Install Problem

I have a 1949 Chevy Styleline that I am putting the old rear window in with new rubber. I bought my rubber from National Chevy and it is the same rubber I installed 10 years ago. I am having a problem while putting the rubber on the glass. I can get it around most of the window and in most of the glass slot, but it seems like it is too small, almost like it needs to be stretched. I hesistate because I hate to force any pressure on that old glass.
Should I heat the gasket or something? I am alsmost thinking of using the old gasket as it is about 10 years old and still flexible. Any ideas. I do not rememebr it being this tough before, but hey, I was 10 years younger too. Thanks in advance for the help.

Ron

Put the rubber in a bucket of hot water for five or ten minutes, it will make a world of difference.
