What should i look for in a rearend

I am a novice when it come to rearends. I wanted to know some information of a dana 837823 dana from an 1940's jeep . Is this worth putting in a hotrod.

if not what should i put under the car. All i am familiar with is metal work and paint plus vw based mechanical stuff. I know nothing about reaR ENDS

If the rearend is from a stardard looking Jeep, then no, it's not good for much of anything. They are tiny and will break into many many pieces the first time you put more than 40hp to it! LOL
