Rearend Gear Question

I am ordering the Eaton Posi from Tom's Differential for my GM 7.5 10 Bolt 26 spline rearend which is a 2 series carrier. The Eaton is 3.23 up and I will be installing 3.42 gears , but shall I order the standard or thick gears ?

You do NOT need thick gears.Just order a normal gear set.

The thick gears are for the 2 series differential and the standard gears are for the 3 series. The new Eaton Posi will be a 3 series. Be sure to get a good installation kit from Tom while you are ordering parts.

This would be a good time to upgrade to 28 spline axles. Chances are that your axles are worn and need to be replaced anyway, and the 28 spline axles will increase the strength of the rear end. The 7.5 was upgraded to 28 spline in '90, so '90 to '92 axles will fit with a 28 spline Eaton Posi.

'90 to '92 Camaro or Firebird. Tom also has them. Tom sells AAM axles, which are very good quality.
