I just finished rebuilding my 7.5" 10 bolt after trashing one axle and the auburn posi. I went back in with Moser 28 spline axles and a Detroit Truetrac diff.
I used the Moser axle bearings/seals, a complete Richmond install kit including new pinion and carrier bearings and Richmond Sportsman 3.73:1 gears. I had a pro shop set up the gears.
Even though the gears are a little noisier than I hoped, the problem is that I get a LOT more gear/bearing (?) noise when cornering to the right than to the left. I called Detroit and they said that the diff should be quiet under all circumstances.
The pro went back through the rear end and didn't find anything wrong except a very slight rub inside the right brake drum where the shoes rubbed. We filed the brake shoes slightly, but the noise is still there.
Any Ideas how to fix it???

If the sound is during cornering, the problem is likely the posi unit. I would take it back to the pro rear end shop and demand they make it right. That is one of the protections of using a shop instead of DIY.
