Post rearend problems

i have a 76 pontiac catalina and want to put some gears in and come to find it has a 8 7/8 ring gear and no one makes any gears. some guys i talked to say that cadalics had the same set up. as my car is now it has 2.42 and that sucks i want 3:73 can any one help if it comes down to it i guess i can put a new rear end like a 12 bolt or a nine inch but would like to find out if there is any alt. <img src="graemlins/sweat.gif" border="0" alt="[sweat]" /> <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

call me crazy but 8 7/8 ring gear would be a c clip GM 12 bolt, and everybody makes gears for it.
