if memorey serves me right, the camaro is a leaf spring rear, and the carlo is a coil spring. you would have to first check the lenths of the rears to see if it`ll line up correctly with the wheel wells. secondly you`d have to remove the leaf spring perch`s and weld on coil spring perch`s, and this is a lot of work. if your carlo has the 7.5 rear, the other way out would be to find a rear from a 82 - 87 firebird t/a or camaro Z28 and get the guts out of it and swap into your rear. this is what I did to my cutlass, my car came with a 2.14 non posi, I swapped the guts from a 83 T/A rear which was a 3.23 posi unit. this way, you don`t have to remove the rear in your carlo. if your interested in doing this swap let me know and I`ll post the codes on the T/A and Z28 rears.

but the thing is I had just put in a brand new eaton posi unit and new 4.10 gears in the camero then wrecked it and got a good buy on the mone carlo but had spent more on the rear in the camero than the m/c cost and was hopeing to save some money

my advice would be to sell the camaro`s rear unless you have a cutting torch, welder, and the time and money needed to correctly set up the camaro`s rear in the monte. I had heard before the Monte Carlo SS came with 8.2 rears, but I don`t know how true it is, if it is true, you could just swap guts from your camaro`s rear to the monte SS rear.
I seen a monte SS in the junk yard, and it`s rear wasn`t a 7.5, by looking at it I couldn`t tell what it was, it was bigger than a 7.5, that`s the thing about junk yard cars, never know what may have been swapped into them before they made it to the yard.
