to rebuild or order a short block

my block cracked now to decide to get a crate short block or rebuild another block.

My spare still sits in the 72 chevy pickup it came with. The rings are bad enough it got parked so definitly have to bore. Can't remember the casting number but it is an unopened 350 with a 1 or 2 barrel carb. I think it is a 1 barrel. Carb is the size if my fist. 2 bolt main. I haven't decide about transferring the 327 large journal crank. I need new pistons. the old ones are way too much compression for me(11.5). Getting a new cam either way.

This will be a daily driver with vortec heads around 9.5 c/r. Shooting for around 375hp. Which would be cheaper? I have seen short blocks for under a grand, but not sure if they are worth it.
