rebuilding my 383
seem to be having a timing issue with this engine. keep beating the bearings out. right now i forgot alot of teh technical data,like deck height and all and what the timing was set at, its been out of the car for a while..
a little run down of the engine
kb 134 pistons .060
eldlebrock performer rpm cam,and intake
holley 750 carb
compression was running about 230-240 on the simms test right before i took it apart
as far as heads not really sure,this is where im looking for some more info.
casting ##3911032,which listed in my aera book,is 283,307 or 327. mild port and polish,2.02 valves. thinkiong of going with a set of vortec heads,with these specs,
Combustion Chamber: 64cc
Intake Runner: 185cc
Exhaust Runner: 60cc
Intake Valve: 2.02"
Exhaust Valve: 1.60"
Valve Job: 3-angle
this is the 2nd time ive had to freshen it up,less than 10,000 miles on it. i want to get it straightened out this time. any info and more questions to help out is great
