Hello guys I am looking for some help here for what I am looking at wise for price wise to rebuild my small block chevy. Don't know of a machine shop yet but am trying to figure out a budget and what I might be looking at.
Here is my back ground on the motor. Its a two piece rear main seal 4.00 inch bore block that I got brand new back in 2001 and put together with a used crank and rods and new pistons. In 2007 with all the flat tappet cam failures on the rise I decided to redo my engine with a new bottom end and went with a roller cam setup and I had my dart heads redone with new valves and guides and seals and had my block decked and the cylinders just deglazed and put new rings in it along with a brand new scat cast crank and scat 4340 capscrew connecting rods.
Here is a few questions I have and wonder can my heads be redone a second time as far as new guides and a valve job.
I am buying new valves, and springs along with seals to put on these heads but will need the machine shop to seal the new valves with a finish that will allow it to seal good for longevity wise.
On to my bottom end I would have to have the block bore .030 over along with new cam bearings put in as well as have it checked and cleaned and I would reuse my scat crank and rods since they have less then 15 thousand miles on them and have them checked and would need new pistons and it rebalanced obviously.
Can anyone who recently had there engine wise maybe share a ball park figure I might be looking at on the high side of things for cost wise?
Thanks for any help guys as its been a long time since I had this done and I know costs have went up since then and I don't want to miss anything I am needing to do as most likely this will be my last build as my health is failing even though I am only 39 but cancer treatments taken two plus years ago has left me getting worse and my father who has been the one to help is getting to old to build things anymore.
Sorry about my story lol I am just not wanting to miss anything on what I need to get done and know what I need to save. Thanks all.
