Rebuilding wheel cylinders
Hey gang :pimp:

I'm gonna be rebuildling my wheel cylinders this weekend, I got the rebuild kit (pretty sure they gave me the wrong one). I'm taking the backing plate of tomorow and the wheel cylinder(s) (I got a split wheel cylinder deal on my '50 Dodge). My uncle will hone them out then. Is there anything I need to know before I do this? I suppose all it is is put the new rubber cups back in and re-use spring and piston right? Any special method of taking these out or putting them back in?

Why not just put new ones on. I put new ones on my 48 chevy for just a few dollors more than what a kit would cost.

New ones for a '50 Fargo---------$75 each (I need 4 for the back, 2 for the front)
Rebuild Kits for a '50 Fargo-------$14 each

I guess it is cheaper to get the kits. Hard to believe that they cost that much each. As long as they are not pitted to bad then you may be able to hone them out. Good luck on your project.

Well they come from the States, and I can only get them from the middle man (Dodge City Ontario) because the company in the states only does wholesales. Well Dodge City jacks the prices up so all I can do is pay up if I wanna play.

The rebuild went GOOD :thumbup: I'm excited, I should wrap the rear brakes up tomorow, got brand spankin' new brake shoes for $50 (all 4 for the back).
Honing the cylinders out was an easy job, the new rubbers fit good and the boots were good too. Go the new outer bearing installed :thumbup: now all I need to do tomorow is inner seals ( :pain: that'll suck though) and re-assemble everything. Then move onto the front...and then I can pass saftey inspection and I'll be rollin' in sytle down the road!!!
