Rebuilt 700R4 does not function

Hi everyone mine name is doodle and I am restoring a 91 Chevy Silverado. I rebuilt to engine and does great but I recently rebuilt the trans 700R4. But Once I installed into truck I have nothing. doesn't act like it's getting torque from converter. Won't pull on engine or shift into drive. Any Ideas.

Thanks

Is the trans Full of fluid? How many quarts did you install as the engine was running?

Was the converter fully installed in the trans when they were bolted together?

Have you checked for pressure in the trans via the cooler line fittings?

Rebuilt 700R4 not function

Thanks for the reply Crosley. It was filled to Specs with oil however it wasn't running when oil was added. The converted was installed all the way inside the pump and all the splines lined up. Haven't had chance yet to check if i have pressure in the cooling lines. Would that mean it is strickly the pump that is not working for some reason. Let me add this also. The pump originally in the truck had a crack in the front housing of the pump. I had another pump from a another 700R4 but it was two wheel drive would that make a difference. I check ed the specs and they both looked identical, same vains, seals, coller length, and such but hey that's why I'm up here is to learn this is new to me. I'm human and it's mechanical so the possibility of something not working is good. Thanks for any info.

If it was filled "not running", it's still way low. The only way the converter gets filled is when it's running. Start it up again and ck the level. Chances are it's still a few quarts low. Won't move until it's all the way full, or atleast closer.

You installed 10 - 11 quarts of fluid without the engine running? Amazing

Pumps have differences in certain year groups...... late pump in early trans means a big oil leak internally.

let us know what you find.

Late converter (30 spline) installed on an early tranny (27 spline) equals no movement of the vehicle.
