Recomended Literature?

I was just wondering if anyone has found any books that they really enjoyed reading and also found them useful. I don't care what they might deal with, engines, transmissions, body work, interior, suspension, whatever.

Also, could you please tell us where you bought the book and an approximate price. Thanx everyone.

David Vizard has put out several books on engine rebuilding that I thought were pretty decent.

You can find them at the library or any bookstore.

Any books on the history of customizers like The Art of Big Daddy Roth, George Barris, etc. Also I like Tex Smith's books on chopping tops, Ron Covell and Ron Fornier's books on metalforming. These are available at Barnes and Noble and other good bookstores ranging in price from around $14 to $35 depending on the book and quality of photos.

Here is a very good limited circulation book on the history of the famous Rod & Custom Dream Truck. Very interesting and detailed history of this landmark vehicle.

Use the search engine at Amazon.com. I buy all my "how to " books from Amazon. Don't be afraid to buy their "used" books. They frequently are brand new but somehow may have gotten out of the normal distribution channel and end up being sold as used. The price is better.

I'd have to agree with the comment on the Vizard books. I keep them around as references-especially when I get pipe dreams about upgrading my sb 283 to high performance.
