'72 chevelle, 454 bored .030 over, 411 gears, comp's magnum 280 cam, dusted off 049 heads stock valves with 750 demon carb. Presently running a TH350 going to a 2004R .

I plan on building a 2004R for my Chevelle since we figured out how to keep it cool in my Nova. I want a good idle but not a race convertor to generate a bunch of heat. I'm also undecided on the shift kit to use. Transgo HD2 or something from PTS extreme (Bruce Toelle) or Art Carr. Maybe I'm just picky but what I want is a Firm shift (not harsh or tire chirping) during part throttle shifting, but when I stand on it I want it to break your neck. I also want Manual control to any RPM when I'm driving, but I want my wife to be able to put in OD and just go (auto). Suggestions/experiences?
