Recon 496.. ???

Hi

I'm thinking about buying the Recon 496 with alu. heads from summit.

What do you guys think about this engine and those anybody have any firsthand experience with this engine.

Any info. will be greatly appreciated

Why don't you go for the GMPP 502 instead? The zz502/502 motor is absolutly bullet proof. I've been hammering one of these for 3 yrs now. Plenty of power and great running.


Check this out:

For the 200 bucks you save you can get an intake and you will have the exact same config as the recon motor. Also the 502 uses a brand new block (std bore) designed especially for the 502. It is not using a punched out used 454 block.

From what I hear, Recon engines pretty much suck

I just asked about them recently and have since decided to stay far away from them. I suggest you do as well.

recon 496

Either displacement, go with either a remanufactured engine vs a reconditioned one. The cost isnt that much more and life will be so much better. That being if there is no such critter as a new engine.
