Recovering seats

Has anyone ever tried one of the seat upolstery kits as sold by Kanter Auto? I have a 36 Buick business coupe and am trying to decide if i should upolster the old bench seat or just put some bucket seats in. If I go with buckets it become a 2 passenger rod only. If I upolster the bench seat I might cram 3 in for short rides. To get the seat done by pro is out of my price range. Kanter Auto has kits that sound like can be installed by anyone with a minimum of talent. Can anyone atest to the quality of these premade kits and the look and ease of installation? Any help or suggestions would be welcome.

The kits from Kanter are pretty good but they are not necessarily easy to install. Any kit that uses Batting for foundations rather than foam has additional challenges to setting up the foundation and them making the covers fit. If you have experiance with this type of thing great. If not you can use the instructions and install with patients. The instuctions leave alot of subtle things out, If you are handy and want to give it a go I would at the least recommend that you try to find someone local that has stuffed a cotton batting seat that is willing to help as a sounding board for problems. Worst case is that with a digital camera we can try to help you from here.

That's good advise. The kit would not be a bad way to go if the seat frame and padding are in really good shape. The problem with the kit is that if you run into anything out of the ordinary it might not go on very well. Good luck.
