what would the difference in effect be between laying a red pearlescent clear over flat black vs gloss black?

I'm guessing that your talking about High Strength Black = Gloss Black and Low Strenght Black = Flat Black instead of flattening agent in clear.

If you mix the red pearl in your clear and shoot it over the HS Black it will have the effect of the black inbeded deep in the metal when in direct sun. As far as the LS black, Im not sure. I'll have to mix some up and try it out on a spray card tonight. Give you results this week.

Now don't add a whole lot of pearl, because it will change the color. IE HS Black with to much Gold pearl = nasty color Green. (accidently did that. ruined the whole qt.) Just enough gold gave a brownish purple effect up close and glossy black from a distance.

Thanks, that would be great. Ive done something simmilar on a 1/25th scale model. airbrushing thinned fingernail polish over flat black, the effect was very cool and stayed flat. Im just not sure If I could pull it off on a small car using rattle flat and thinned nail polish.
