Rediculous article
I find the "why NOT TO use a CSB engine" article to be biased at best and bordering on downright stupid.
Citiing, very common, highly available, reliable and cheap to build as reasons NOT to use a CSB is clearly coming from someone with an axe to grind. How about throwing in a "reasons for chosing a CSB" article in to keep things in perspective?? Cant think of any "reasons"?? How about highly available, cheap to build, reliable ... ... need more? no problem, wide spectrum to suit different purposes, more aftermarket parts than any other engine on the planet, huge HP potential, easy interchangeability... Things that make me go HMMMMM??? |

re: Rediculous article
Where is this article that you speak of? Is it in the WIKI ? Or are you talking about a thread here on the Bulletin Board? Please provide a link or a url so we can all see what your referring to. Thanks

re: Rediculous article
but also, there is an article on why to use a Chevy small block, I can't remember the title but it's in there, just have to look for it... so everything is in perspective.
I don't think you understand the full extent of the article. it's aimed at street rods and hotrods, not high hp vehicles where every hp counts.. but cars that should be diffrent than the next, even if there the same make/year/model.. Hot rods w/ SBC's are common and the value of a SBC powered hotrod can be lesser than say a Buick Nailhead, or an Early Hemi.. Last edited by matt167 : 05-13-2008 at 10:20 AM. |

re: Rediculous article
If there's not already a "Why to use a SBC engine", feel free to start one. The wiki is very democratic -- anyone can start or edit any article.

Ok,I'll admit I did not read the Wiki yet, BUT...the "first two" reasons you posted for NOT choosing a sbc, seem to hold true if a person is building an open hood/hoodless rod. I've seen so many cars built in a trad style, yet the use a modern sbc. Good grief, at least put as much effort in the motor, as the rest of the build |

Had to edit after re-reading your post. I can appreciate uniqueness. So you made a reccomendation of something other than a crate motor. Thats fine, but the article doesnt, it simply baggs on the CSB. If the article read "Other options for builder motors" and then made some suggestions it would have made a lot more sense. But to simply put down perhaps the greatest classic motor of all time because of their success.... Sorry, that dont flush.. Last edited by 65smallblock : 05-14-2008 at 08:25 AM. |

HR site seemed to have a problem early this AM, could not even get the url to show in the browser after using my bookmark. Now it's Sooo slow to get to the coalition page and then worse delays getting to it's idex. Got to the index, and can't find his new wiki? or did he add to the old one ?? To 65sb; I did read most of the old wiki, and I really don't see what is so offending? except maybe the comment about the sbc is less powerful. That's wrong as we know, BUT there is a note there saying this comment needs facts & figures added ("as a wiki edit" I would guess?) |

re: Rediculous article
It's only "offending" if someone should take it personal like saying they dress funny or the kids ugly or something. We are talking about a motor here, not a boob job.

re: Rediculous article
Besides, you should not be saying "CSB".................it's "SBC"..........That's like saying "IMEH" instead of "HEMI"..............and, you wouldn't want to upset those RAPOM guys...................

re: Rediculous article
The pro-SBC article complements the anti-SBC article. On each article, we can add a link to the opposing argument. Or, we can combine them into one article.
The point of the wiki (in this case) isn't rightness or wrongness. It's efficiency. We spend countless hours debating the SBC controversy. It makes more sense just to document the various viewpoints on one page, rather than having everyone repeat their argument every other week when this issue comes up. The time and social energy that we save in the process can be invested in more constructive pursuits. Anyway, job well done 65smallblock |
