Reducing Chroma Clear HC-7776S

A friend of mine has been using Chroma System Base Maker reducer with ChromaClear HC-7776S to reduce it. He's shooting small fiberglass cowling parts maybe bucket size pieces. He has been doing this as a 2nd final coat shot over a cleared in 1st coat cleaned up with 600grit. His process looks good finished out. Anyone heard of this and is there merit to it. Sounds kinda corny to me but it looks like it works pretty well..Thoughts?? Thanks Walt

The process of clearing and letting it dry, then going back over with 600 or 800 and clearing again is fairly common with some painters.

As for reducing its hard to say. Everyone has their own method for painting and what many people dont realize is no two spray guns are going to spray paint the same. Many methods are from painters who use the same gun every time and perfected their own painting skills with the equipment they have. If he is using a 1.2tip and you try the same thing with 1.5 then you will get completely different results.
