Relearn alignment procedure ??????

Hi guys
I must be to old school going to change timing belt on my wifes 96 stratus with a 2.4l DOHC and this is not a problem have changed lots timing belts even the one on my 94 Chrysler LHS,anyway they are calling to do a relearn align procedure after the belt is changed with a DRB scan tool. My question is can I do it with something else or why do you need to do this ??
Thanks Jeff
