Do you see any problem with running the cam lube down the holes beside the lifters.(not the lifter holes) Dont want to do the lash if i dont have to.
Motor was rebuilt two years ago and never fired up. sbc
some lube still there from rebuild

Instead of doing so I recommend priming it when she`s ready to fire off. Make sure you use oil that has ZDDP and some STP oil treatment, also make sure the oil filter is prefilled. Prime on it until it has oil coming out of the rockers. After it fires do the normal break in routine of 20 minutes and vary the RPM from 1800 to 2200.

Sure you can relube it, it certainly won`t hurt but still prime it with a oil pump primer and drill right before you fire it up.

If your not sure what oil has ZDDP in it, Valvoline racing oil has it. I get mine from Napa. :D

will be using comp came break in additive and red lube for cam any other thoughts on lubing cam from valley??

If you have the int. manif. off then by all means pour some cam break-in or oil down through there...but as DV said still pre-lube the engine just before you fire it.

Just FYI... prelubing things by spinning the pump does absolutely nothing for the lobes. All you'll be doing is oiling the cam bearings and upper valvetrain. Cam lobes get absolutely no oil from pressurized sources - only from crank splash. You can spin the pump all day and not lube the lobes.
