Remote Power Brake Booster - 62 Impala Wagon
Anyone have any experience installing a remote power brake booster? I am thinking about purchasing one from ECI (Engineered Components) and putting it on my 62' Impala Wagon. My only experience has been with one like a Midland, etc. that is commonly used on street rods. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks!

Never installed one on a 62 Chevrolet but I have used their products and kits before without problems. I used their stuff on pre WWII type of vehicles.

I used a remote booster , off of a motor home , on a 39 chev,, with no problems,, just make sure you have it connected to the proper vacuum supply,
Is this with a aftermarket brake set up, or stock? |

I used a small one from ECI on my truck for years. Worked great. It was mounted on a bed cross member about 5 or 6 feet from the vacuum source and about 3 feet from the master cylinder. Installation instructions were with it.

Thanks for the advice. I am using a Kugel Components master cylinder which I was able to put under the dash in order to clean up the firewall. I am running an LS1 for power and a "stock" master cylinder and booster would not have cleared. If anyone is interested in using a Kugel master cylinder such as this, let me know. I can help.

I went out and looked in my parts pile,, and found a small midland remote booster that were used on motorhomes, its about 7" in diameter, I'm not sure exactly what it came off of,, but I could take some # off of it to find out,, and cross referance,, if you are interested?
It would be perfect for what you are doing,, Bill Last edited by Bad Rat; 03-26-2008 at 02:00 PM. |

I am very interested. Thanks for your help. You can just email me the photos if you want and give me an idea how much you want for it. I assume it has been out of the weather.

Yes it is,, I never paid attention to that,, probably wouldn't work for your needs,,it was used on a 50 chev woody, appairently it was plumbed into a single line, NOT a good idea ,, don't recall exactly how it was setup,,

Any help would be appreciated
I would appreciate any help you would be willing to help me with on the conversion swap in your 62. I am planning on dropping an LS3 into my 62 Impala 2 door hard top and would like suggestions and or comments on some of the issues you went through to get it done. I definitley like the idea of cleaning up the engine bay and stuffing the master cylinder away and using a remote brake booster.

Help with your LS3
Just send me an email at rschollmeyer@email.com and I let me know what issues you are interested in addressing on your swap. Good to hear someone else is putting an LS motor in a 61-64! Take care.
