Removed Transmission to put starter plate

I removed transmission to mount plate and did not remove converter from transmission. I lost plenty of oil out the back of the trans but none up by the converter. DO I NEED TO ADD OIOL TO THE CONVERTER BEFORE REMOUNTING THE TRANNY? Lerning experience!!

No, but you can damage the torque converter and trans shaft by doing things that way.
Just fill it trans with a couple quarts down dipstick tube, then start the car, check and fill as necessary.
On a SBC there is no need to drop the trans out. Just need to pull it back from the engine a few inches to change the flex plate.

Sounds like He did it correctly.
He didn't leave the Converter bolted to the Flexplate. "Didn't remove it from the Trans".
If the Trans seals are old you may want to change as many of the external seals as possible before reinstalling it.
Front, Rear, Dipstick, Detent Cable, Shift Shaft, Speedo seals etc..
