Removing 65 year old rubber from running boards

Does anybody know how to get old dried up rubber off running boards?

things worth trying

1 gasoline lifts most glues
2 propane torch and scraper
3 wire wheel it off

how about one of those eraser wheels for removing pinstripes and glue and such?

If it is a large area you could try flooding it with acetone. Do it outside so the fumes won't overtake you though. I assume since you said it was 65 years old we are not talking fibeglass.
