removing speedo gear housing from TH400
Hi all
I figured as long as I'm doing all this work under the car I may as well fix my inaccurate speedo problem. I've never removed the speedometer gear housing from a TH400, I got the retaining plate off, now how do I remove the housing itself without messing it up? |
Just grab the speedo cable and pull.

If it's corroded it can be a pain. May need Vise Grips, Channel Locks pliers etc..
Soak it with some PB Blaster or my favorite below. LOL! |
Thanks fellas I'll soak it with some penetrating oil and yank it out tomorrow....
|
I have had thousands of 400s over the years and never had a problem yanking the speedo out, even when the case was so corroded that there were corrosion holes in the case.

Yeah, the TH400 aren't bad.
I'm used to the 200-4Rs' that have the Steel Bullet & Aluminum case, they're a real pain sometimes :boxing: dissimilar metals. :smash: |
