removing speedo gear housing from TH400
 

Hi all

I figured as long as I'm doing all this work under the car I may as well fix my inaccurate speedo problem. I've never removed the speedometer gear housing from a TH400, I got the retaining plate off, now how do I remove the housing itself without messing it up?

Just grab the speedo cable and pull.

If it's corroded it can be a pain. May need Vise Grips, Channel Locks pliers etc..
Soak it with some PB Blaster or my favorite below. LOL!

Thanks fellas I'll soak it with some penetrating oil and yank it out tomorrow....

I have had thousands of 400s over the years and never had a problem yanking the speedo out, even when the case was so corroded that there were corrosion holes in the case.

Yeah, the TH400 aren't bad.
I'm used to the 200-4Rs' that have the Steel Bullet & Aluminum case, they're a real pain sometimes :boxing: dissimilar metals. :smash:
