Removing the turn signal arm on a 1980 Malibu

I bought a tilt steering column for my 1980 Malibu, but the turn signal/high beam arm did not come with it.
I thought I would take the arm out of the old one,but I can't get it out!!
All it does is the turn signal/high beam,no wiper/washer cruise etc.
Any ideas?

It might not be a screw in type, you might have to take the steering wheel off then the horn ring and there will be two little screws holding the turn signal arm. Don't let those little screws fall into the column, or you might be.
There is also a little spring on the horn ring don't let that go flying when you take it apart.

Putting it together make sure that spring is in it's holder and at 11 o'clock, or close to it. Good luck.

Bob

new columns usually have a multi function switch that runs the wipers, cruise and high/low beams along with the turn signals
push in and turn before you pull it out, no disassembley required
at least that's how it is on my 86 astro column

Well,I figured it out,but it wasn't pretty(involved vice grips,cusing).
Seems the arm has a knob on the side, which you line up with the slot and pull!
tHANKS FOR THE HELP.

Well,I figured it out,but it wasn't pretty (involved vice grips and swearing...lots of swearing).
Seems there's a little hump on the arm that has to be lined up with the slot on the side, then pull!
Thanks for the help.
