Removing vinyl top on nova

On my 71 nova I have almost all of the major body work completed, new quarters, fenders, and major dents, etc. I am at the point where it jsut needs some fine tuning and straightening. My question is how much work will be involved in removing the vinyl top. I was originally going to leave it on but it is now all dry and cracked so I am going to remove it for good. I like those novas better w/out them anyways. It appears it is jsut glued on and I assume I will have studs or holes where I remove the trim. Does the vinyl go under the windsheild? How big of a b**** really is this job?

Basically involves sweat.. just start peeling a heat gun can help and when you get it off you will need to sand the top to recieve just goes under the trim so you should not need to remove the glass..

I have tried most all of it and now do what is known to work..

Not sure on the Nova but the Chevell's have a row of tabs along the bottom of the sail area and below the back glass that need removing, Also, The trim piece for the rear window glass is another issue.
You willl also have some filling to do at the top/sail weld area as they don't usually finish these out at the factory. The drip rail trim will go back fine, the rear glass will need a different piece or just finish it out and paint.

Just to clear up "back" glass, I'm refering to the 1/4 glass not the actual back window. It's fine. Sorry if I confused you. I do it to myself ALL the time.

Also be ready to clean up a lot of rust. If the top has been on the car since new it's a good thing to remove it. Let us know what you find when you get it off...

I'll let ya knwo what I find, hopefully not too much. It has always been a garage kept car even before I got it and there are no rust bubbles in the vinyl so I hope it won't be too bad.
