It's normal. I've spent as many as 4 days in my shop while trying to get something pieced together. Leaving only for parts. Get yourself a service manual. Not an repiar book as chiltons come in a second best. Get a service manual from your local dealer for your car. That's as close as you will get to covering it all.

Mitchell manuals are very good, way better than Chiltons. Your local library might have Mitchell manuals.

check these people out:

Faxon

I bought a factory assembly manual and a chassis manual for my 68 impala from them. They are photocopies of the original manuals they used to put the cars together. Quality is not bad, some pages are faded a bit.

For the 65 they have: Engine Overhaul Manual, Body Service Manual, Best Shop Manual, Assembly Manual
