repare plastic fuel tank??

dear members..

I've got strange question about repairing plastic fuel tank..

if i am not mistaken most of the American cars switched to
plastic tank instead of steel one..

and my opinion I only recommend the above tank for boats
only to avoid heavy weight and rust??

in case if this tank get cracked if hole how you will repair it??
I have used all types of sticking material like epoxy, jb weld
fiber glass etc but still leaking... and advise please

ga

Napa used to sell this stuff, 2 part, designed for just such an occasion. Never used it personally, however, sold a bunch of it & never heard anyone ***** about it not working.

rought it up with aome 100 grit sand paper, then clean with mineral spirits or paint thinner. Gasoline leaves a residue that the eopxy won't stick to. If you use a plastic tank repair kit, make sure the adhesive is good for polyethylene (sp?). That's what most are made of. Some glues won't work with it, others will. The epoxy should work once cleaned and roughed up though.
