Replace Transmission Valvebody With Another One

I want to replace my transmission valvebody with a different one. The valvebody I am replacing is reprogrammed with a Transgo shiftkit.

The replacement valvebody has no shiftkit.

Do you think I'll have problems with the installation?

------------------------

Problems that I foresee:

1.) The Transgo shiftkit has, in addition to it, a bushing which is installed into the transmission case. For that, I can just use a puller to remove it.

2.) The replacement valvebody may not be compatible because it may have a different VIN # associated with it. Both valvebodies, however, are for a 2004 Nissan Titan SE (mid 2004-2008 RE5R05A Transmission.)

FYI:
a.) I've already done work with a Honda Odyssey, replacing a transmission there with a rebuilt one. No problem there. The van accepted it.
b.) I'm replacing the valvebody reprogrammed with the Transgo shiftkit to get a normal ride again. That valvebody works fine but I seldom race my truck.

i would call transgo and see what they say as far as the bushing goes.
other than that, you will have to have the vehicle flashed to accept the new valve body and it will also have to have the acc. pedal relearn done as well.
from what you described and with what you have already, i think you already knew that but, just making sure.
as far as the honda odessey trans go, they are a bit different and dont need a reflash done after overhaul or a different trans put in.
nissan is not the 1st to put the tcm on the valve body, its getting more common every day (not the greatest idea in my book but hey, theyre the ones making billions huh?). with the CVT's that are out, its pretty much normal procedure to have a reflash done when a new unit or valve body has been installed. honda is the only one ive done so far at this point that i havent had to worry about that on. yet...

Good call on the Transgo bushing. Maybe they could supply me with a new one just in case I decide to remove it.

I guess I was hoping against all hope that I wouldn't need to re-flash. One of these days I'll get back to the stock VB, just not anytime soon.

Yeah. Placing the TCM on the VB isn't so cool. Perhaps they put it there because of the CAN system to boost communication speeds. They figured..."Now that we got a CAN behind the glove box.. maybe we should move the TCM to the VB to make it work."

That said, it's still a lot of work just to take everything apart lol.

Thanks for your reply. It was a lot of help.

I just got some good news from some titan owners. They were able to perform the swap without the flash. I'll give it a try but maybe later in the summer. I already changed out the atf... oh well.

Thanks for your help again.
