replacement dash for a 79 camaro.

Hey kids. The Beast is off to the body shop. new paint and a lil surface rust removal. new trunk floor pan and new floor pans inside. I am now ordeing the stuff to put back into it and have a question. Can a dash from a 77 or 76 fit into a 79 ? i can find thoose dash pieces cheap but 79's are rare. i am going to make a custom dash insert to hold all new guages. but i like the look of the 76 77 dash with the flow of the guage cluster. is this possible? hopefully so . thanks for all the help ahead of time.

You can do ANYTHING sheetmetal-wise with a big hammer and cutting torch! Seriously, I have never done the swap but those body styles are identical so I can't imagine it not working with minimal effort. My usual advice to questions like this is go to Pick-A-Pat with a good tape measure and study the parts. That will tell you if you have a fighting chance. In the old days, the hotrodders did dash swaps quite often. I think a '40 Ford dash into a Model A was common? Not sure of the years but it was some seemingly impossible swap like that. Your proposed swap should be much simpler than something like that.
