Question Replacing a dual point with an OEM HEI

Just say I wanted to replace my dual point with some sort of an HEI. Is there something that I could get from a "recycle yard" (junkyard is no longer politically correct) that I could make work. I just happen to have a source for late model GM parts. What would be a good swap for a fairly stock 350 Chevy or is it even worth doing instead of an aftermarket?

The cheapest way to get HEI is with a pre-computerized (75-80?) factory unit. I would think it would be around $10-$20. It should have the 4 prong ECM in it. This dist. is bigger around than your pointer, so make sure you have enough clearance for it. If you don't have room, then I would say the next best thing would be to get an old single point (free-$10) and a Pertronix conversion kit ($80?). It may be possible to convert your Mallory, but I don't know. You would need to talk to Pertronix, they might have something for that also.
