replacing factory in dash oil gauge with aftermarket gauge

In my 79 c-10 pickup I have an electronic oil pressure gauge that is not working. I have made sure that the sending unit is good and that the wiring is all hooked up but the needle is stuck 2/3rds of the way across the gauge and doesn't move, ever. I need an oil pressure gauge. Is that factory gauge removable so I can add an aftermarket gauge in its place?

Go to your local Chevrolet store and get a new gage

There are 2 different gages for these trucks

0-60
0-100 ( I think)

The sending unit must match the gage

Would not hurt to get a gage and a sending unit at the same time.
Should give you another 20-30 yrs service

I had to replace both of mine in 2001-----oil pressure dropped to 0 and stayed there for about 2 weeks-----apparently not an engine issue.

LMCTruck.com also has the gauges in their catalog, and there are plenty of trucks in the junkyard that have the same instrument panel. Just make sure you are looking at the ones with an electrical oil pressure gauge. Early models (73-76?) had a mechanical oil pressure gauge.
