Replacing a legendary engine!!!! 4 now...

Hey I have a 1965 Buick Wildcat with a 401 Nailhead in it, but I was hoping to be able to put in a Buick 455. I have a rebuilt Buick 455 that I just bought and I was kinda hoping to be able to put it in the car and rebiuld the nailhead slowly... but the main reason that I am sticking the 455 in the car is variety, power, and there are just way more 455 parts that I can buy... But the Nailhead is actully in need of a major rebiuld job so that is the main reason that I am performing the swap... But I actually dont know what needs to be done... I know that it wont go right in because of the unique bellhousing of the tranny so I am in search of another transmission which will not be hard at all. Well thanks for your time and I hope to hear from you all soon!!

I'd leave the Nailhead in it, if it needs a rebuild, punch it out to a 425 and run with it. you will maintain the curb appeal and the value of the car will not drop. there are Nailhead parts available, just Summit don't have them. check www.speedwaymotors.com, they have a whole section devoted to the nailheads, parts for rebuild ect...

Ok well then what about other sites...

Well I guess that means that I better start putting in money on this car... so instead of into on where I can find info on the swap I guess I'll be needing help on sites and places that I can go to get parts... I mean like a whole engine rebiuld kit... if they even make one... thanks for the site and I helps out... well hope to hear from you all later and thanks for you time!

I think speedway motors has the rebuild kit you need. I think you will find, you will have less into the car if you just rebuild the nailhead, and you can gain the same power.
