Replacing speedo driven gear fitting & seal assembly

I have 700R tranny and I want to replace myspeedo driven gear fitting and seal assembly? Mine has a plastic fitting about 1 inch &1/4 long (approx), where my cable threads on to. I know to take off the "C" connector first, only has one 10mm bolt then do I pry it off because it looks like I will screw the plastic threads up if I am not careful? Never done one before! Also I picked one up and it is all steel part # GM 345215, ACD# 345215, It really doesn't look like it's for my 700R, Maybey 350, but don't really know any help would be great, (walk me through this, thanks again) Dana

speedo gear

after removing the cable. remove the bolt that you mentioned-take hold of the gear with your fingers and rock it gently, and it should come out. some fluid will come out as well. i haven't seem a metal one except in standard trans. you should be able to buy the o'ring and the seal separate. once you have it out, remove the gear and lift out the seal with a small screw driver, very easy, then the oring on the outside of the adapter. be sure and lube the gear shaft with trans fluid before reinstalling it.
