Replacing the stock B30 torque converter in a 4L60e

Would there be a problem replacing the stock B30 torque converter (30 spline and 12 inch diameter) with a B-85 (30 spline and 12.5 inch diameter) torque converter in a 4L60e ?

i could not find the stall speed for either the B30 or the B85.
From what i could remember the B30 had a stall speed of around 2000prms.

I was told the B85 would swap straight over (click image). but I am not sure now.

Its larger, i don't know if that is a problem in terms of torque, and bolt on hole location

I don't know the clutch type, perhaps it will not match the pump.

My original torque converter had the following:

on a sticker - TMBX 2420
6642

then printed - 035 - 00-16:07-N
then stamped on the side - 0947 -B

If anyone here understands the world of torque converters, i would appreciate some assistance here.

Thanks in advance

If you don't know the difference in stalls I wouldn't swap it, I have a convertor from a late model 4.3 s10 that is suppose to be about the highest stock stall, Only reason I would change it out is I know where it came from and what the stall is.

I found:
B-29= 1211-2000rpm stall.
B-30= 1211rpm stall 6-Lug Diesel.
B-85LP & LW= 1400rpm stall, same as TMBX code.
B-85= 1400-1600rpm stall, 2 clutch material types.

Thanks SSedan64 for that.

Just correcting an error of mine. it is a B29 not a B30

So from what you found: B-29= 1211-2000rpm stall speed.
and
B-85LP & LW= 1400rpm stall speed B-85= 1400-1600rpm stall speed

Is their a problem with the slight variation in stall speeds or not?

Shouldn't be any problem, it's only 200rpm difference between the 2.

The B 85 will not go on the same 4l60e set up i have, it needs a longer shaft. so i have to say with the B 29.

And I was told the bell housing is also different in the trannies with the B 85.

I think the B-85 fits the LS type Engine and that Trans also has the bolt on Bellhousing.
