Restoring factory paint.
I have a 1999 Tacoma, red, with 63,000 miles. I've sanded the original paint in straight lines from front to back with 2000 grit wet or dry. I've buffed out small sections to see if it shines and it does, but I've read that if you use the new 3000 grit DA foam backed disc the buffing goes much faster. I bought Norton foamed back disc mounted on a soft foam backing. My question is how fast should I run the IR DA? Half speed? Full speed? I've also read that you should not use too much water spray from a spay bottle. They say the fine grit does not cut as well if there is too much water. :welcome:

I got an answer from another forum. They run the DA about half speed. Also, too much water will make the fine 3000 grit hydroplane. The surface should be moist, but not wet.
